Respect, responsibility, and orderly conduct — in English y en Español.
Conduct
Respect and mature conduct in the school is of primary importance to staff members, parents/guardians, and other students. The maintenance of orderly conduct of students is necessary in every school situation to ensure the health and safety of all and to maximize learning. Effective discipline is a necessity for quality education. West Phoenix High School’s fundamental philosophical basis of effective discipline is that students are responsible for their own actions and are expected to show respect and consideration for the right of others. In addition to appropriate behavior at school, students are expected to exhibit proper behavior on their way to school, on their way home, and when participating in school activities.
Attendance
Attendance and academic success are highly correlated, therefore West Phoenix High School adheres to strict attendance and tardy policies.
Make Up the Time
Students who are absent must make up coursework and instructional time during the week they were not present.
Five Consecutive Unexcused

Additionally, if a student accrues five consecutive unexcused absences he or she will be withdrawn from the school.
Coming Back
If a student is withdrawn from the school he or she may re-enroll, if space permits, and continue his or her education.
How Absences Are Reported
All absences must be phoned into the school office by the parent or guardian of the student.
If the school does not receive a phone call by the parent/guardian regarding the student’s absence and the nature of the absence, then the student will be marked unexcused.
Dress Code
How It Is Enforced
The following is a list of guidelines for appropriate dress for a student while attending West Phoenix High School. Students will be sent home immediately if not dressed appropriately or given shirts to wear over certain clothing.
Teachers and administrators will work together to enforce the dress code. If a student is not dressed in proper attire, a teacher will bring the matter to an administrator (unless the student can remedy the violation). If the student refuses to cooperate with the teacher, then the student will be referred to the office.
- No revealing clothing: too short skirts, netted shirts, half-shirts, see-through clothing, too much cleavage, too much of back is exposed, etc.
- No solid color outfits (head to toe clothing of one color)
- No spaghetti straps or tube tops
- Male students should not wear muscle tees or tank tops.
- No bandanas, hats, “doo-rags”, hairnets and/or rollers.
- No sunglasses to be worn in school classrooms.
- No pagers or phones should be visible and must not be used during class or in the classroom. These items should be turned off in class.
- No gang associated clothing or symbols on clothing, belts, etc.
- No excessive “sagging”. Pants must be pulled up to waist and pants should not be excessively baggy.
- No vulgar pictures, writing or logos on clothing.
- Proper undergarments should be worn appropriately. No undergarments should be exposed.
- No numbers on clothing.
- No pajamas, slippers, or any inappropriate sleepwear.
- No jerseys.
Politicas Escolares
El respeto y la conducta madura en la escuela es de gran importancia para los miembros del personal, los padres, tutores y otros alumnos. El mantenimiento de la conducta ordenada de los estudiantes es necesaria en cada situación escolar para garantizar la salud y la seguridad de todos y para maximizar el aprendizaje. Disciplina efectiva es una necesidad para una educación de calidad. Los base filosófica esfundamenta en West Phoenix High School para una disciplina eficaz hacia los estudiantes, los cuales son responsables de sus propias acciones y se espera que demuestren respeto y consideración por el derecho de los demás. Además de un comportamiento apropiado en la escuela, se espera que los estudiantes presentan buen comportamiento en su camino a la escuela, en su camino a casa, y al participar en las actividades escolares.
Asistencia
Asistencia y éxito académico están muy correlacionados, por lo tanto West Phoenix High School se adhiere a estrictas políticas de asistencia y tardías.
Recuperar el Tiempo
Los estudiantes que están ausentes deben de recuperar los cursos y el tiempo de instrucción que perdieron durante la semana en que no estaban presentes.
Cinco Ausencias Consecutivas

Además, si un estudiante acumula cinco ausencias consecutivas sin ser excusadas él o ella serán retirados de la escuela.
Volver a Inscribirse
Si un estudiante es dado de baja de la escuela, él o ella puede volver a reinscribirse, si el espacio lo permite, y continuar su educación.
Cómo Reportar una Ausencia
Todas las ausencias deben ser notificadas por telefono a la oficina de la escuela por el padre o tutor del estudiante.
Si la escuela no recibe una llamada telefónica del padre o tutor con respecto a la ausencia del estudiante y la naturaleza de la falta, entonces el estudiante estará marcado ausente sin excusa.
Codigo de Vestimenta
Cómo Se Aplica
La siguiente es una lista de normas para la vestimenta apropiada de un estudiante mientras asiste a West Phoenix High School. Los estudiantes serán enviados a casa inmediatamente, si no estan vestidos apropiadamente o se les dara una playera para que se pongan sobre prendas inapropiadas.
Los maestros y los administradores trabajarán conjuntamente para hacer cumplir el código de vestimenta. Si un estudiante no esta vestido adecuadamente, un profesor llevara el asunto a un administrador (a menos que, el estudiante se pueda poner una playera o chaqueta). Si el estudiante se niega a cooperar con el maestro, el estudiante será referido a la oficina.
- No usar ropa reveladora: faldas/camisas demasiado cortas, ropa transparente, demasiado hombros, pecho, espalda, o barriga expuesta, etc.
- No colores sólidos (de la cabeza a los pies vestido de un solo color).
- No blusas sin tirantes o de tirantes espaghetti.
- Los varones no deben usar camisas sin mangas.
- No pañuelos, sombreros/cachuchas, “doo-rags”, redes, o rodillos.
- Gafas de sol no debe ser usado en las aulas escolares.
- Localizadores o celulares no deben ser visible y no deben utilizarse durante clase en el aula. Estos artículos deben ser apagados en clase.
- No ropas asociadas de pandillas o símbolos en la ropa, cinturones, etc
- Los pantalones deben ser fajados hasta la cintura y los pantalones no deben ser excesivamente flojos.
- No imágenes vulgares, escritura o logotipos en la ropa.
- Ropa interior debe ser usada apropiadamente. La ropa interior no debe estar expuesta.
- No números en la ropa.
- No pijamas, “pantunflas”, o cualquier prenda inapropiada para dormir.
- No playeras deportivas.
